The History of Medicine

Via Stix;

A short history of medicine:

“I have an earache.”

2000 B.C. – “Here, eat this root”

1000 A.D. – “That root is heathen, say this prayer.”

1850 A.D. – “That prayer is superstition, drink this potion.”

1940 A.D. – “That potion is snake oil, swallow this pill.”

1985 A.D. – “That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic.”

2000 A.D. – “That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.”

To which I have to add;

2010 A.D. – “Eat this root, as soon as you receive approval, which may be a few weeks, to months, unless you are over 65 and have a history of eating the wrong things, or smoking, or conservative activism, or are non-union; (see 124900.2 A1.2362 Section 212, Paragraph 240).”
